Hundreds of fashionistas, industry influencers and celebrities attended Ghana Fashion and Design Week (GFDW) 2015 held at the newly opened Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra last month.

Creatives from Ghana, South Africa and the diaspora showcased their latest collections during the prestigious three-day extravaganza, including Emily Aryee-Hyde, founder of London-based childrenswear company Native Belle (see gallery above).

Prior to the evening catwalk shows, GFDW delivered business seminars as part of its efforts to educate aspiring design entrepreneurs on the additional skills needed to build and sustain an international brand.

Seminar speakers included finance guru Kwesi Livingstone; Head of Radford University’s Fashion Department Yvonne Ntiamoah; award-winning motivational speaker and TV host Anita Erskine; renowned afro stylist and hair director Charlotte Mensah; and AB2020 creator Akosua Annobil.

AB2020 also teamed up with our world-class branding partners Vine Creatives to offer a brand and PR makeover worth over £1,000 to one delegate who signed up for the opportunity at GFDW. The selected design entrepreneur will receive a full professional marketing package, and appear in AB2020 in 2016.

An additional 25 individuals will benefit from a free consultation with Vine’s leading art director and senior digital designer Nene Parsotam.
