Nairobi to Host 4th Angel Fair Africa Event

The 4th Angel Fair Africa event is set to be held in Nairobi, Kenya in November, with keynotes from
Dr Chris Kirubi (Chairman of Centum Investment Group), Tim Draper (Draper Associates) and Dave McClure (Managing Partner of 500 Startups).

Angel Fair Africa brings investors together with accelerators, incubators and emerging businesses from across the continent to do deals.

This year’s event will see the deployment of two syndicates from Viktoria Ventures and Intellecap, which will allow their members to lead investments into ventures of interest. Meanwhile, an additional cohort of up to 100 investors from Angel Africa List, East Africa Venture Capital Association, New Generation Angels, African Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, and Angel Capital Association of the United States are also confirmed to be in attendance.

‘We are excited to open up our membership to investors coming to Angel Fair Africa as that would catalyse more deals in the ecosystem,’ said Stephen Gugu, founder of Viktoria Ventures.

Startups and scale ups have been selected from all over the continent, particularly East Africa, through entrepreneurial partners such as Pivot East, Seedstars World, Demo Africa, Village Capital cohorts, Financial Sector Deepening Trust, and MEST. The entrepreneurs will pitch during the event, giving investors the opportunity to prioritise those they wish to meet.

The event will also include investors’, entrepreneurs’ and ‘exists’ panel discussions to shed light on experiences and trends. Darshan Chandaria and Kris Senanu – both investors and judges from the Lion’s Den – and Kanini Mutooni, Director of Investments at the USAID East Africa Trade & Investment Hub are among investor panelists.

Nairobi was selected as Angel Fair Africa’s fourth destination after successful events in Jo’burg, South Africa in 2013, Lagos, Nigeria in 2014 and Accra, Ghana in 2015 (in which AB2020’s creator Akosua Annobil participated, video above).

According to Eric M.K. Osiakwan, co-founder of Angel Fair Africa, this year’s keynotes are a combination of local and foreign businesses moguls who are now investors backing the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The 4th Angel Fair Africa will take place 10th-11th of November 2016. Visit angelfairafrica.com
