The 6th edition of Tech in Ghana, AB2020’s leading conference bringing together Ghana’s tech ecosystem for global knowledge sharing, valuable networking, and to showcase innovation, took place in Accra on 26 & 27th November.
The two-day event, held at the Accra Digital Centre (ADC), was supported by the Ministry of Communications, the British High Commission Ghana and GIZ under the theme Connecting our Global Network: People, Opportunities and Industries, alongside sponsors including Visa, KudiGo, Jumo, BlueSPACE Africa and MTN.
Tech in Ghana, held twice a year in London and Accra, has become the leading UK-Ghana event that supports Ghana’s burgeoning tech industry by providing a platform to highlight, engage, stimulate and connect with the industry’s founders, government agencies, corporate tech companies, and key players and influencers.
Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Communications Honourable Vincent Sowah Odotei, who delivered the opening keynote, commended Tech in Ghana for serving as a common platform for industry players to make business ideas a reality and create opportunities for the youth, because of the important role it has played as a credible platform since 2017.
The British High Commissioner to Ghana Iain Walker also delivered a keynote address, and highlighted the need for collaboration and partnership in the tech industry to enable the easy sharing of techniques and knowledge; and emphasised the UK government’s commitment in this regard.
On Day 1, plenary discussions included the Future of Payments, Ghana’s Digital Agenda and Driving the Ecosystem Through Policy. While, afternoon breakouts featured deep dive discussions led by Visa, Afrobytes, and the Ghana Hubs Network. See Day 1 pictures below, and pictures from Day 2 here
Tech in Ghana will return to the UK during London Tech Week in June 2020.
